  • Paper tape with natural rubber adhesive: from 36 rolls, equivalent to one carton.
  • Paper tape with synthetic rubber adhesive: from 540 rolls.
  • The minimum order for water-activated paper tape is determined for each project.
  • The exact minimum order depends on width, length, construction, adhesive, number of print colours and manufacturer.

Dimensions and design

  • Common widths: 50, 72 and 75 mm, within the range 50–75 mm.
  • Common roll lengths: 50, 60 and 66 m, within the range 50–66 m.
  • Other widths and lengths can be made to order.
  • Self-adhesive, water-activated and reinforced constructions are available.
  • Reinforced paper tape contains a reinforcing element that increases tensile strength and makes the tape more suitable for heavier packages.
  • Thickness, core diameter and winding are adapted to the application and packing equipment.

Materials and adhesives

  • Backing material: natural brown or white kraft paper.
  • Solutions containing recycled paper may be available.
  • Self-adhesive paper tape uses natural or synthetic rubber adhesive, including solvent- and hot-melt-based solutions.
  • Water-activated paper tape usually has a starch-based adhesive layer.
  • Reinforced paper tape is available with a natural brown base colour.
  • Material and adhesive are selected according to the carton surface, package weight, storage conditions and transport stresses.
  • Adhesive selection also considers initial and final adhesion, carton composition and operating temperature.

Printing options

  • Printing in up to four colours, depending on tape construction and the manufacturer’s technical capabilities.
  • Logo, text, contact details, repeating patterns, campaign messages, handling instructions or warning labels.
  • Print colours are normally specified using Pantone codes.
  • Print area and pattern repeat length depend on tape width, construction and manufacturing technology.
  • Detailed graphics, small text and large print areas are assessed against the artwork and selected paper tape.

  • Natural brown kraft paper gives the packaging a natural appearance.
  • White paper tape provides a light print background with clear contrasts.
  • Self-adhesive tape is ready to use for standard manual or machine packing.
  • Water-activated tape is moistened to activate the adhesive and bond to the carton surface; it requires a moistening dispenser.
  • Reinforcement increases the tape’s mechanical strength.
  • Whether the paper tape can be recycled depends on its exact composition and local waste management.

  • Average production and delivery time: approximately 25 days after approval of the print artwork.
  • Exact timing depends on construction, roll dimensions, adhesive, number of print colours, order volume and production workload.
  • Delivery terms and delivery time are confirmed for each order.

Artwork files

  • Preferred formats: vector graphics in PDF, AI or EPS.
  • Text must be converted to outlines.
  • Print colours must be specified using Pantone codes.
  • The artwork is adapted to the print area and repeat length according to the manufacturer’s technical requirements.
  • A digital proof is prepared for approval before production.

Self-adhesive kraft paper tape is ready for everyday packing. Water-activated tape is moistened before application and bonds to the carton, which can make an opened package easier to identify. Should I choose self-adhesive or water-activated tape?

Self-adhesive paper tape is ready for manual or machine packing. Water-activated tape requires a moistening dispenser, bonds strongly to the carton surface and can make an opened package easier to identify.

When is reinforced paper tape needed?

Reinforced tape is used for heavier cartons and shipments requiring greater mechanical strength. Construction is selected according to weight, carton properties and transport conditions.

Can paper tape be used for machine packing?
