The specification
for your project.

Minimum order quantity

  • Hand film in stock: the minimum quantity depends on the number of rolls in the sales pack.
  • Machine film: the minimum quantity depends on thickness, stretch grade, roll weight and manufacturer.
  • Coloured, UV-stabilised, partly recycled or custom-made films: the minimum quantity is confirmed after specification.
  • For higher consumption, regular deliveries or agreed customer stock may be possible.

Dimensions and roll parameters

  • Rolls with cardboard or plastic cores; coreless hand film can be offered.
  • Hand film: typical width approximately 100–500 mm and thickness 7–23 μm depending on type and use.
  • Machine film: typical width 500 mm; other widths may be available as special solutions.
  • Machine film: usually approximately 10–35 μm; optimised high-performance films can be thinner.
  • Net and gross weight, film length, core inner diameter and roll outer diameter depend on the product and equipment.
  • The machine’s roll holder, maximum roll weight and prestretch unit must be checked.

Material

  • Mainly LLDPE, linear low-density polyethylene.
  • One or more layers affect stretchability, puncture resistance, cling and holding force.
  • Cast film is usually more transparent, quieter to unwind and more consistent in its properties.
  • Blown film can provide higher puncture and tear resistance for irregular loads or sharp edges.
  • Partly recycled raw material can be offered; content and suitability depend on the technical requirements.

Printing

  • Transparent and coloured standard film is normally supplied without custom printing.
  • Logos and repeating designs may be possible with custom production.
  • Availability depends on film type, thickness, width, number of colours and quantity.
  • Printed film must be assessed together with stretch level, machine and load requirements because the design changes as the film stretches.

Finish and performance

  • Cling on one or both sides depending on the product and wrapping direction.
  • Transparent, black, white and other colours to conceal or identify the load.
  • UV-stabilised film can be offered for outdoor storage; the suitable duration depends on the additive and environment.
  • Prestretched hand film requires less stretching force during application and can give more consistent consumption.
  • Machine film can be classified by recommended prestretch. Settings are established by testing the film, machine and load.
  • Thickness, puncture and tear resistance, cling, transparency, unwind force and holding force are assessed together.
  • Consumption is compared per securely wrapped load, rather than solely by thickness or roll price.

Delivery times

  • Standard hand and machine film in stock: usually 1–3 weeks.
  • Custom dimensions, colour, UV stabilisation, recycled content or printing: timing depends on the production schedule and quantity.
  • For a new machine film solution, a trial roll can be tested on the wrapping machine.
  • Exact timing is confirmed after type, dimensions, roll parameters and quantity are specified.

Artwork files

  • No file is needed for film without custom printing.
  • Logo or pattern artwork is supplied as vector graphics.
  • Colours, design dimensions, repeat length and position must be specified.
  • The final print area, repeat, colour separation and technical limitations are approved before production.

Minimum quantity, available options and delivery arrangements to Sweden are confirmed for your order in the quote.

CHOOSE TO SUIT YOUR PRODUCT

Film selection starts with the load

Hand film suits small and medium packing volumes and is applied manually or with a dispenser. Machine film is designed for semi-automatic and automatic pallet wrappers for consistent tension and controlled material consumption.

Prestretched hand film requires less force. Narrow mini stretch film suits profiles, tubes, components and bundles. Assess the load’s weight, shape, height and edges together with the transport conditions. A thinner high-performance film can reduce plastic consumption if it provides the required stability, but comparisons should be made per correctly wrapped pallet.

  • Stabilising pallets during storage, terminal handling and transport.
  • Keeping cartons, sacks, bottles and building materials together.
  • Protection against dust, dirt and splashed moisture.
  • Concealing and identifying loads with dark or coloured film.
  • Securing small products, profiles, components and bundles with mini stretch film.
  • Manual wrapping in warehouses, production, e-commerce and distribution centres.
  • Semi-automatic and automatic pallet wrapping in larger logistics operations.

Identify the load with colour or printing

Emballa, with Plastrum OÜ in Estonia behind the brand, compares films based on packing volume, machine and load. Transparent film shows the contents; dark colours can conceal them and distinguish goods flows. Custom printing can add logos and handling information where the film’s stretch and performance allow.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Before you order.

What is the difference between hand film and machine film?

Hand film is applied manually or with a dispenser. Machine film’s roll dimensions, weight and stretch properties need to suit the pallet wrapper in use.

Which film suits heavy pallets?

The choice depends on weight, shape, height, edges and transport. Holding force, puncture resistance, tear resistance and wrapping pattern are assessed together.

Does thinner film always mean lower consumption?

No. Thinner film can reduce consumption if it achieves the required stability. Compare the amount of material per correctly wrapped pallet.

Is film containing recycled material available?

Partly recycled polyethylene can be offered. Content and suitability depend on requirements for stretchability, strength, transparency and machinery.

What information is needed for a quote?

Specify the application, width, thickness, net roll weight or length, core dimensions, colour and consumption. For machine film, the machine model, prestretch data and load description are also needed.
