The specification
for your project.

Minimum order quantity

  • Standard rolls in stock: the minimum quantity depends on roll dimensions and the sales pack.
  • Cut sheets, bubble bags and other finished products: the minimum quantity depends on dimensions and construction.
  • Antistatic, reinforced and custom-made bubble wrap: the minimum quantity is confirmed based on the selected specification.

Dimensions and design

  • A smooth polyethylene layer is combined with a layer of air-filled bubbles.
  • In two-layer film, the bubbles are on one side; in three-layer film, the bubbles are covered with smooth film on both sides.
  • Small bubbles usually have a diameter of approximately 10 mm and a height of 3–4 mm.
  • The diameter and height of larger bubbles depend on the manufacturer and protection level.
  • Roll width, roll length and grammage are selected based on the product's dimensions, weight and protection needs.
  • Rolls, cut sheets, bags and ready-made wraps.
  • Custom bags may have an open top, flap or self-adhesive closure.

Material

  • LDPE: flexible, moisture-resistant polyethylene for standard bubble wrap.
  • The proportion of recycled polyethylene depends on the product, colour and performance requirements.
  • Antistatic bubble wrap contains an additive that reduces the build-up of static electricity and is usually pink.
  • Reinforced bubble wrap can be laminated with additional PE film, foam, paper or other protective layers.
  • Strength may be specified by grammage, number of layers and bubble profile rather than material thickness alone.

Printing

  • Standard bubble wrap is supplied unprinted.
  • Single- or multicolour flexographic printing may be possible on custom-made bubble wrap or finished packaging made from the material.
  • Availability depends on construction, roll dimensions, print area and order quantity.

Options

  • The standard version is usually clear.
  • The antistatic version is usually pink; the shade and duration of its antistatic properties depend on the product.
  • Perforation allows sheets to be torn off in set lengths.
  • Cutting, bag making, flaps and self-adhesive closures.
  • Lamination with other packing materials can provide additional protection.

Delivery times

  • Standard rolls in stock: usually 1–3 weeks.
  • Cut sheets, bags and perforated rolls: lead time depends on dimensions and quantity.
  • Antistatic, reinforced and laminated bubble wrap: lead time is confirmed based on construction.
  • The exact lead time is confirmed based on material, dimensions, product format and quantity.

Artwork files

  • No artwork file is needed for unprinted products.
  • For printed custom products, supply the logo or design as a vector file.
  • Print area, number of colours and technical design requirements are approved before production.

Related protective films

  • Cover films can be offered in clear, coloured or opaque versions as rolls, cut protective covers or ready-made load bags. UV stabilisation is selected based on climate, load and planned outdoor storage.
  • Shrink film contracts when heated and can be offered as flat film, centre-folded film or tubing for manual or automatic packing. Thickness, shrink direction, shrink force, puncture resistance and sealability are adapted to the product and heat tunnel.
  • Protective films are mainly made from LDPE and LLDPE. The possible proportion of recycled material depends on transparency, strength, sealability and machine requirements; 100 % cannot be assumed.
  • Custom films can be adapted with colour, perforation, antistatic properties, UV stability and slip properties. Thinner film may be possible if the product and process meet the requirements.
  • Printing on cover and shrink films can include logos, handling instructions and safety markings, depending on construction and quantity. Recurring deliveries and agreed stockholding can be assessed.

Minimum quantity, available options and delivery arrangements to Sweden are confirmed for your order in the quote.

CHOOSE TO SUIT YOUR PRODUCT

Choose bubbles to suit the product's protection needs

Bubble wrap cushions impacts and vibrations and protects surfaces during packing, storage and transport. Small bubbles often suit lighter, fragile items. Larger bubbles or reinforced construction may suit larger, heavier and irregularly shaped products.

The enquiry should include the product's dimensions and weight, required protection, packing method and estimated consumption. An existing specification, image or sample can be used as a starting point. For products with sensitive electronics, an antistatic solution is selected based on product sensitivity and the required ESD protection.

  • Glass, ceramics and other fragile products.
  • Electronics and components with the appropriate antistatic version.
  • Surface protection for furniture, lighting and white goods.
  • Cushioning and void filling in e-commerce and postal shipments.
  • Separating products in transport and group packaging.
  • Protection for parts during storage, picking and transport.

Custom formats and printing

Emballa, with Plastrum OÜ in Estonia behind the brand, compares manufacturers, materials and constructions for standard rolls and more technically demanding solutions. Printing and ready-made wraps can be offered where material and quantity allow. Shrink film also requires data about the packing machine or heat tunnel.

A partner throughout the project

Emballa is backed by Plastrum OÜ. We help businesses in the Baltics and Scandinavia choose material, construction and printing method. We compare manufacturing options and coordinate the project from specification to delivery.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Before you order.

Which dimensions are needed for a quote?

Specify product type, dimensions, weight, packing method, required protection level and quantity. If you have an existing film, you can also provide a specification, image or sample.

Can bubble wrap be ordered in custom formats?

Yes. Cut sheets, perforated rolls, bags and wraps with a flap may be possible. The minimum quantity depends on dimensions and construction.

Is antistatic bubble wrap available?

Yes. It is used for electronics and other products sensitive to static electricity. The protection level and duration must be confirmed for the selected product.

Can the material contain recycled polyethylene?

Yes, depending on the product and technical requirements. The proportion depends on factors including colour, transparency and required strength, and must be confirmed in the quote.
