Packing tape is used to seal, secure and label cartons and other packaging. The choice depends on the surface, package weight, temperature, transport and whether the tape is applied by hand or machine. This page covers standard unprinted tape.
BOPP tape is often used for carton sealing; its properties depend on the film, total thickness, tensile strength, elongation and adhesive. Paper tape is available in self-adhesive or water-activated versions with different application methods. Acrylic, hot melt, natural rubber and solvent-based adhesives are selected to suit the carton and environment. Recycled fibre content, surface coatings, dust and carton flap tension affect adhesion. Tape applied in a warm room and then stored in the cold may require different properties from tape applied directly in a cold warehouse. Machine tape needs to suit the equipment's dimensions, unwinding and speed. Testing before a larger order is recommended. Emballa helps you compare manufacturing options and choose material, construction and printing for the project. Emballa is backed by Plastrum OÜ in Estonia, which works with business customers in the Baltics and Scandinavia.
